I got this Optiquest Viewsonic V775 17″ monitor from my previous work back in 2001. The company says that they’ve had it since 1997 when it was a brand new unit. So that’s roughly around 10 years of service.
Two days before the start of 2007, the morning of December 30, I was still using it to draw rough ideas for my wallpapers and commissions. I went out to do some errands, when I came back to check my mail, the monitor won’t turn on.
It just died.
And I know a thing or two about computers (heck I built every single PC I had with my own hands), and I’ve basically done every troubleshooting I know without literally opening the monitor itself. Inside, all that circuitry and diodes and transistors, I have no clue what to do.
Right away I got on the internet, using my Powerbook G4, to hunt down a new one. Found a shop that offers the new Viewsonic VG1930wm 19″ wide.
As of this post, I’m still waiting for the delivery of said monitor.
