Fill Path using Photoshop Actions

Jun 13th, 2010No Comments

Alot, and I DO mean ALOT, of people have been commenting on my Digital Inking video on YouTube about how to quickly fill a path with either the foreground or background color. Well, here’s how I do it.

Using the Path Tool, trace out the line art as you would normally. Make sure your foreground is set to your desired color. I use this to digital ink, so I use Black.

Before you go and fill that color in, you’ll need the Actions Palette first (if you don’t have it on in your Toolbox, press Alt+F9)

Click New Action button. Give the action a name and, this is the important part, a shortcut key (I use CMD+F11). When you click OK, Photoshop will start to record.

Perform the steps that you want the action to do. I’ve set mine to record up to deleting the path after its filled.

Click the Stop button to where you want to stop the process, and you’re done.

Now all you have to do is create the path and hit the shortcut key.
